Source – NICE – The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence has issued guidance on the use of immunosuppressive therapy for renal (kidney) transplantation in children and adolescents.
Previously, there was no standard immunosuppressant regimen for children or adolescents receiving a kidney transplant but most children
in the UK received triple therapy with a calcineurin inhibitor (ciclosporin or tacrolimus), a DNA proliferation inhibitor (usually azathioprine), and a corticosteroid.
